DMV Spotlight this week shines a light on Step Sisters, a Northern Virginia non-profit that provides tangible support for community members whose lives are impacted by breast cancer. Guests, Ashley Campolattaro, Founder and Co-Executive Director and Angela Fuentes, Founder and Co-Executive Director of Step Sisters each shared their personal stores of how breast cancer has impacted their own lives with Ashley’s mom and Angela as survivors. Both women wanted to share the support they received from meals to treatment transport to house cleaning. Step Sisters works through nurse navigators at local hospitals in Northern Virginia who identify specific needs of breast cancer patients. Step Sisters funds professional services to the patients in need: from child care during treatment to lawn care to a crisis fund as well as services mentioned above. Step Sisters also provides a critical resources guide for patients during all stages of treatment and survivorship. Also highlighted, the annual Ribbon Run coming up April 25th, 2020 to help fund Step Sisters.
