DMV Spotlight digs into the emotional impact the coronavirus is having on all of us. Guest, Michael Shea LICSW, LLC is a Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing Integrative and Holistic Psychotherapy for over 25 years here in the DC area. Shea talked about actions we can take when fear over the coronavirus threatens to overtake. Shea also discussed using our emotions to motivate us to reach out to others and to be creative in how we take care of ourselves, our families and our communities. Shea suggested re-framing the pandemic crisis, in an emotional sense, as an opportunity to remind us of what is truly important, that we really are all connected, to slow down and examine our feelings and regain a sense of control by creating a plan of action. Shea also pointed out that increased anxiety can also weaken our immune system.
