DMV Spotlight this week on ESPN 630, The Sports Capitol, shines a light on the Alzheimer’s Association. Guest Ana Nelson, Vice President of Programs and Services with the Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area provided information about dementia illnesses including Alzheimer’s as well as what is ‘normal aging. She also stressed the need for more research dollars and the role of volunteers. Nelson talked about risk factors for Alzheimer’s and lifestyle changes to combat risk for the disease. She also gave details about the upcoming “Walk to End Alzhiemer’s ” on Saturday October 12th on the National Mall and the connection that so many people have to Alzheimer’s: as a patient, caregiver, community member or someone who has lost a loved one to the disease.
